The findings in the own door seem obvious, the same kind of fabric strips as on the guide rail from the spare parts car. Mostly small black pieces of fabric, but also a longer one plus a sticky puss that was clamped at the bottom of the rail as a kind of stop. The pieces of fabric are twill woven as it is called in textile language. They are fragile, falling apart between the fingers when touched. I'm not sure if it's the same kind of fabric as in the red/grey interior from 1959, that fabric is very black on the wrong side. What speaks against it is that the findings in the door are black on both sides. I will try to find some small piece that is strong enough to wash. Not because it's very thorough, I'm mostly curious. For the function, I can glue any suitable fabric in place on the guide rail.

Skenor i bit
Ledskenan i två bitar.
The guide rail in two pieces. It was easy to get loose. It is important to keep track of how all the spacers should sit, I took a few pictures because I will forget it before reassembly.
The most important thing is that the pieces of fabric stay put. They are strips, about 3 centimeters wide, which are glued in place. I have received some nice pictures from Kjell-Åke that show how it looks on his Saab 92 in 1951 and there is some difference even if the principle is that the fabric dampens rattles between the window and the metal of the guide rail is the same. Several people I have been in contact with have been able to identify their fabric strips as being of the same type or some interior fabric, but I do not recognize this immediately and have to compare it with the small fragments from my red car.

Doors found! And no, they should not be mounted on the car, but may be seen as spare parts. They are remnants of a light yellow 59 I had about 20 years ago. A car that sat outside for at least 30 years, a difficult renovation object, finally given up. But the car was quite complete and gave a lot of parts to many cars and many places. I still have the front seats and doors. Of course, they were at the far end of the warehouse behind five bikes, three gearboxes, three bumpers, four back seat cushions and six chairs. But in the end the doors were out, it's just a shame that I have to redo everything but the other way around as they are going back in in a few days.
The purpose of all the picking is to see how the guide rail is attached and how it is most easily removed without screws and washers going in all directions and then being lost forever. If there are remnants of pieces of fabric glued to the rails that's even better, on my red car all the fabric has come off.

Ljudligt
Loudly
A few weeks ago I wrote about a rattling window on the driver's door. After consulting a bunch of specialists and examining it myself again and again, it was established that the fault, the rattling, originates from the guide rail that goes inside the door, it has the number 100 in the picture. On the bottom of the door were found some crumpled and dirty strips of fabric that had originally been glued to the inside of the rail and clamped to the window and acted as a sound dampener. Funnily enough, I fixed this on a Saab 92 not too many years ago but I have no recollection of any loose pieces of fabric. However, I remember that the rail was easy to unscrew but considerably more difficult to get back in, and then the doors were still loose. Now a similar operation is to be done with the doors in place, so it is important to think ahead. I may have some 93 door in the store room to practice on. So just start looking.

Made in England
Just like on my old 92, the rims are English. RO&CO, see picture, stands for Rubery Owen, a company in Darlaston, West Midlands. The production seems to been broad, among other things during the war years 1939-1945 the army was supplied with helmets, the iconic Mk II, the one you see in many war films. I don't know how long the collaboration with Saab lasted, there is room for more research here, but in December 1958, when the car went through the production line, the English four inch wide rims were in any case available.

De grova däcken heter Kumho, 155 R15 82T, made in Korea.
No wide soles here
The picture speaks a very clear language. Original dimension 5.00-15 diagonal tires are significantly narrower than the 155s that have been used so far. The rough tires are called Kumho, 155 R15 82T, made in Korea. The narrower ones are BF Goodrich Silverstone, made in the USA, I think. It's actually the first time I've put the two tire dimensions next to each other, you understand that there will be a difference in the car's performance depending on which tire you choose. We all think differently but right now the narrow tires will soon be fitted to this car.

Under ytan
With the wheels removed and a closer inspection, many minor damages are visible, which together justify putting on a new coat of paint. If the rims had been untouched, a polishing would be enough, but there are clear traces of repainting, so it feels ok. My friend Kåre has promised to help, very grateful. Just crank the tires as a first step.

Museumsblankt
So shiny and nice. Outer rearview mirror on the cut-up 93 at the Saab Cars Museum as it is called. The car that was green at the beginning, in 1955, was transformed into a red 93 f a few years later. It is a not too bold guess that the mirror was screwed on then. The model is seen in late 93 and early 95/96. Deceptively similar to the one you usually see but a little more pointy at the end and a little harder to find today, especially in this fine condition, so it was fun to see. For those who are particularly interested (nerdy), the car offers many fun details. The worst part is that it is a pre-series car. The 93's started with chassis number 25000 but this one is called 24999 if I remember correctly. Even though I have been dealing with 93 for 35 years, I have never come across even a trace of any other pre-series wagon, maybe I haven't looked closely enough. Strange really because there should have been someone else.
